Born and raised in Southern California, Monica Mordaunt received a BFA from Chapman University in Orange, CA. She has spent summers training with Doug Varone and Dancers, Trisha Brown Dance, LA Contemporary Dance Company, and at the American Dance Festival. Professionally, Monica has worked on site-specific work, short films, black box performances, and evening length performances. While in California, she was involved in projects with Stephanie Nugent, Stephen Koplowitz, Genevieve Carson, Joe Alter, and Sarah Swenson. In New York City, she has had the pleasure of working on independent projects with Kensaku Shinohara, Shandoah Goldman, and Sarah Foster. Monica can only walk on her hands, which is why she never grows her hair too long. She has collaborated with BodyStories: Teresa Fellion Dance, Suzanne Beahrs Dance, and RedCurrant Collective. Monica currently dances for Mersiha Mesihovic/CircuitDebris, Regina Nejman & Company, MoveWorks, and is working on a solo performance project. Monica continues to contribute to the New York City arts and wellness community as an arts administrator, yoga instructor, reiki practitioner, and dance educator.
